About SYLK
At SYLK, each piece tells a story - curated vintage and designer clothing with a minimal, timeless aesthetic.
Founded in Manchester, our approach centres on quiet luxury and enduring craftsmanship. Every piece is hand-selected, focusing on natural fibres, refined tailoring and considered design - garments chosen to outlast trends while remaining relevant now.
Founded by Dexter Burgess-Hunt and Sophy Grattidge
SYLK is shaped by a shared focus on material, silhouette and longevity. Each piece is personally sourced and selected, with an emphasis on natural fibres, refined tailoring and understated design.
What began as a small, self-built project has developed into a considered retail space - built through curation, consistency and a clear point of view.
2019
Our Story
SYLK existed as a part-time venture - sourcing pieces and building an early audience through resale platforms and social media.
2020
The founders committed to SYLK full-time.
The first SYLK studio was established within a converted shipping container, marking the transition from side project to business. During this time, the first SYLK website was launched, creating a more permanent hybrid retail presence.
2021
The curation sharpened.
Menswear tailoring became a defining part of the offering, alongside a growing focus on Italian and designer labels. The brand began moving away from trend-led vintage towards a more refined, minimal direction.
2022
SYLK moved into its first dedicated studio showroom space.
This marked a shift towards a more considered retail experience, with increased pop-ups and the introduction of a broader designer offering, including pieces from Yves Saint Laurent, Max Mara and Giorgio Armani.
2023
Regular open studio events and private appointments were introduced.
This created a more personal way to shop, allowing customers to engage with the collection in a physical space while maintaining the brand’s curated, one-of-a-kind approach.
2024
SYLK launched its first womenswear-focused campaign.
This marked a shift towards a more editorial and brand-led direction, building a stronger visual identity around the collections.
2025 - 2026
SYLK entered a new phase of scale.
The brand continues to expand its presence across both online and physical retail, alongside the introduction of its first menswear campaign. Recognition has grown, including being named one of the top vintage stores in Manchester by British Vogue.
