FAQs
New Collections
When do new pieces go live?
We release a curated drop every week on a Thursday at 7pm (UK).
How will I know when the next collection launches?
Join our mailing list or follow us on Instagram for early announcements, special password access and behind-the-scenes previews.
Are the pieces one-of-a-kind?
Yes. Every item is one-of-one, once it’s gone, it’s gone. Occasionally we may source similar styles.
Can I preview upcoming pieces?
Yes, subscribers to our newsletter and follow our Instagram for previews of our new collections.
Do you restock items?
We don’t restock in the traditional sense, as our items are vintage and one-of-a-kind. However, we may source similar silhouettes, fabrics or designer labels over time.
Are Studio pieces different from online collections?
Yes. At our Manchester Open Studio & Studio Appointments, you’ll find a wider range of items, including pieces not yet listed online.
Can I request a specific designer or style?
We welcome requests. While we can’t guarantee availability, we love to hear what our customers are looking for.
Online Store & Orders
Can I amend my order?
Yes, please contact us via out contact page or our instagram to change this. Unfortunately if your item has already been shipped we cannot change the address.
An item I want is out of stock, when will it be restocked?
If the item is not returned to us it will not be restocked. You can turn on 'Notify me when available' to first updates if an item is back in stock.
The beauty with the items we source is that they are unique and one of a kind. We are constantly sourcing and restocking our website with similar style items so we would recommend keeping a close eye on our weekly collections if there is something out of stock that you liked.

Care & Cleaning
Do you clean items?
Yes. Every piece is appropriately cleaned prior to listing. Because our collection includes a wide range of fabrics and eras, we choose the most suitable method for each garment. This may include steaming, gentle hand washing, machine washing, spot treatment or specialist leather and suede care.
Some pieces may show light age-related markings, even after cleaning. These are usually due to the vintage nature of the garment and can often be professionally treated further if desired. We avoid aggressive methods that could compromise delicate fibres, dyes or finishes. We always tailor our approach to preserve the integrity and longevity of each piece.
Do you repair?
We complete minor in-house repairs and where needed, use trusted alteration specialists. We avoid unnecessary alterations to maintain originality and authenticity.
How should I care for vintage?
- General: Follow the label if present. When unsure: speak to a specialist or at your discretion try a gentle method such as cold hand wash, mild detergent, air dry. Avoid high heat and harsh chemicals.
- Wool & Cashmere: Some pieces (not tailored items) may be washed on a cold cycle inside a protective laundry bag (at your own discretion). Otherwise, spot clean or dry clean. Store folded to avoid stretching.
- Silk: Gentle hand wash or cold wash in a protective bag (at your discretion). Beware of colour bleed. Dry flat; never wring.
- Suede: Use a soft suede brush to lift dirt and maintain the nap. Avoid water exposure.
- Leather: Wipe with a soft cloth and use a specialist leather cleaner/conditioner as needed. Store away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Denim & Cotton: Wash sparingly to preserve colour and shape; air dry rather than tumble dry.
Avoid high heat, harsh chemicals and over-washing, these can weaken fibres over time. If you’re unsure about a piece, please contact us for tailored advice.
- Jewellery: Our vintage jewellery pieces are plated or costume jewellery. As with all plated items, natural tarnishing or fading can occur with time, particularly depending on how they are stored and worn. Since we cannot know how each piece was cared for before reaching us, it’s difficult to predict exactly how long the plating may last. To extend the life of your piece, we recommend avoiding contact with water, perfumes, and lotions, and storing in a dry, soft-lined box when not in use.
Authenticity
Do you authenticate items?
Yes. We source from trusted suppliers from around the world. Each piece is verified in‑house using our own research from our founders combined experience of 20+ years working with vintage & designer. For select items, we consult specialist authenticators.
Your guarantee
We stand behind our items with a authenticity guarantee. If you ever have a concern, contact us immediately.
Sizing Guide
How do SYLK sizes work?
As all of our pieces are vintage, sizing can vary depending on the era, brand and original cut. We don’t follow the original garment labels - instead, each piece is personally tried on by the SYLK founders and assigned a “fits like” size (for example S, M, or L) based on modern fit and proportion.
If you usually wear a size M, we recommend selecting pieces listed as fits like M. If you prefer a more relaxed or oversized fit, consider choosing a piece listed as fits like M–L or L.
Because every garment is one of one, we always recommend checking the listed measurements on each product page before purchasing. The easiest way to find your best fit is to compare these measurements with a similar item you already own. This will give you the most accurate idea of how the piece will fit in real life.
If you’re ever unsure about sizing or fit, please feel free to contact us before purchasing and we’ll be happy to help.
Sustainability & Packaging
We prioritise long‑life design and responsible sourcing. Orders ship in recycled or biodegradable packaging, and we reuse materials where safe to do so. We repair where practical and favour timeless silhouettes that are made to be worn again and again.
