Terms of Service
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Overview
Welcome to SYLK. The terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to SYLK, an independent retailer specialising in curated vintage and designer clothing and accessories.
SYLK operates its website, sylk-store.com, and its physical retail store at 62 Port Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester M1 2EQ, United Kingdom.
Our online store is powered by Shopify, which provides the ecommerce infrastructure through which we offer our products and services.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, your purchases and your interactions with our services.
By accessing our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and other applicable policies.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
1. Access and Accounts
You agree to provide accurate and complete information when making a purchase, creating an account or contacting us.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity conducted through your account.
You must not use our website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
We reserve the right to suspend or restrict access to our services where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, misuse or unlawful activity.
2. Our Products
SYLK specialises in vintage, pre-owned and designer clothing and accessories.
Many of our products are one-of-one pieces, and stock availability is therefore limited.
Vintage and Pre-Owned Condition
Due to the nature of vintage and pre-owned clothing, items may display signs of age, previous use or natural wear.
We make reasonable efforts to inspect, photograph and accurately describe our products, including relevant information about their condition, composition, measurements and any notable imperfections.
Customers should review product descriptions, photographs and measurements carefully before purchasing.
Variations associated with age or previous use do not automatically constitute faults where they have been clearly described and brought to the customer's attention before purchase.
However, products must still meet applicable statutory requirements, including being as described, of satisfactory quality taking account of their age and condition, and fit for purpose where required by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes your rights in relation to faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming goods.
Product Photography and Measurements
We aim to represent products accurately. However, colours may vary slightly depending on screen settings and lighting conditions.
Measurements are provided as a guide, and minor variations may occur due to measuring methods and garment construction.
We encourage customers to review measurements rather than relying solely on labelled sizing, particularly for vintage garments.
Availability
As many of our products are unique, availability may change without notice.
We reserve the right to withdraw products from sale or correct inaccurate product information.
If an item becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, we will contact you and arrange an appropriate refund.
3. Orders and Purchases
By placing an order, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products.
An automated order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.
A contract is formed when we confirm acceptance of your order, normally through dispatch confirmation or confirmation that an order is ready for collection.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel orders where reasonably necessary, including in cases of stock unavailability, suspected fraud or material pricing errors.
Where payment has already been taken for an order we cannot fulfil, we will issue an appropriate refund.
If you need to amend or cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible at contact@sylk-store.com.
Your statutory cancellation and refund rights remain unaffected.
4. Prices, Payments and Promotions
Product prices are displayed in the currency applicable to your selected market.
Prices may vary between countries due to exchange rates, local pricing adjustments, taxes or import-related costs.
We reserve the right to update prices and promotions at any time. Changes will not affect orders already accepted, except where permitted by law.
Payments are processed securely through Shopify and supported payment providers.
Promotional codes and discounts may be subject to additional conditions, including eligibility, expiry dates and restrictions on combining offers.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, promotions cannot be applied retrospectively to completed purchases.
Online promotions may differ from offers available in our physical store.
5. Shipping and Delivery
We offer delivery to selected UK and international destinations.
Available delivery services, estimated delivery times and shipping charges are displayed at checkout or within our Shipping Policy.
Delivery estimates are not guarantees unless we expressly agree to a guaranteed delivery date.
We are responsible for goods until they come into the physical possession of the customer or a person identified by the customer to receive them, except where the customer independently arranges a carrier not offered by us, in which case different statutory rules may apply.
If an order is lost, damaged in transit or not delivered, please contact us so we can investigate and resolve the matter in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights regarding delivery.
International Orders
International orders may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, processing fees and other charges imposed by the destination country.
Where applicable, we will indicate at checkout whether duties and taxes are included in the purchase price or payable separately upon import.
The applicable arrangement may vary by destination, delivery service and order.
Customers are responsible for import charges only where this has been clearly communicated and forms part of the agreed purchase terms.
International customers should review the delivery information provided at checkout before completing their purchase.
6. Click & Collect
Where available, customers may select Click & Collect during online checkout.
Orders designated for collection will be prepared at:
SYLK
62 Port Street
Northern Quarter
Manchester M1 2EQ
United Kingdom
Customers will receive notification when their order is ready for collection.
Please wait for this confirmation before visiting the store to collect your order.
We may request the order confirmation and reasonable identification or verification before releasing an order.
Click & Collect orders placed and paid for online remain subject to the applicable statutory rights for distance purchases, including cancellation rights where relevant.
If you are unable to collect your order, please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements.
7. Returns, Refunds and Exchanges
Returns and refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, together with applicable consumer protection legislation.
Online Purchases
For eligible online purchases, customers generally have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of receiving their goods, subject to applicable exceptions.
Where cancellation rights apply, customers must notify us within the statutory cancellation period and return the goods within the required timeframe.
Refunds will be processed in accordance with applicable law and our Refund Policy.
In-Store Purchases
Purchases made directly in our physical store are not generally subject to the same statutory change-of-mind cancellation rights as online purchases.
Any discretionary returns or exchanges for in-store purchases are subject to the in-store returns policy communicated at the time of purchase.
Faulty or Misdescribed Goods
Your statutory rights remain unaffected for faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming products, regardless of whether the purchase was made online or in-store.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, customers may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances.
8. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the content of our website, including original photographs, written descriptions, graphics, branding, layouts and other materials, belongs to SYLK or is used with permission from the relevant rights holders.
You may use our website and its content for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You must not reproduce, distribute, modify or commercially exploit our original content without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
Third-party brand names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
References to designer brands are used for identification and description purposes and do not imply an affiliation, endorsement or commercial partnership unless expressly stated.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
Our website may include links to third-party websites, payment services, social media platforms or other external services.
These services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for third-party content or services outside our control, although this does not exclude any responsibility we may have under applicable law.
10. Relationship with Shopify
Our online store is powered by Shopify, which provides the ecommerce infrastructure supporting our website and transactions.
Sales made through our website are transactions between you and SYLK, not Shopify.
Shopify is not the seller of the products offered by SYLK.
Your use of certain Shopify services may also be subject to Shopify's applicable terms and privacy notices.
11. Privacy and Personal Information
We collect and process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information, together with your rights and choices.
You can review our Privacy Policy at:

12. Customer Feedback and Reviews
We welcome customer feedback and reviews.
By submitting content to us for publication, you confirm that you have the necessary rights to share that content.
Where you grant us permission to publish a review, photograph or testimonial, you permit us to use that material for the agreed purposes, subject to applicable law and any agreed conditions.
We reserve the right to moderate or remove content that is unlawful, misleading, abusive or otherwise inappropriate.
We do not require customers to waive their legal rights when submitting feedback.
13. Errors and Inaccuracies
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, prices, availability and other information are accurate.
Occasionally, errors or omissions may occur.
We reserve the right to correct inaccurate information and, where legally permitted, cancel affected orders.
If an order is cancelled because we cannot fulfil it, any payment already received for the cancelled goods will be refunded.
14. Prohibited Uses
You must not use our website or services:
-
For unlawful or fraudulent activities.
-
To infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
-
To transmit malicious software or interfere with website security.
-
To impersonate another person or provide deliberately misleading information.
-
To harass, threaten or abuse other individuals.
-
To access restricted systems or customer information without authorisation.
-
To conduct automated activity that materially disrupts or compromises our services.
We may take proportionate steps to prevent misuse of our website, including restricting access where necessary.
15. Availability of Services
We aim to keep our website accessible and functioning correctly.
However, temporary interruptions may occur due to maintenance, technical issues or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted website availability.
Nothing in this section excludes any legal obligations we owe to customers.
16. Liability and Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer protection legislation.
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, subject to applicable law.
We are not responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses arising from purchases made by consumers for personal use, except where the law provides otherwise.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business operations, services or legal requirements.
The latest version will be published on our website.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that customers have already acquired under existing contracts or applicable law.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer residing elsewhere in the United Kingdom or another country, you may also benefit from mandatory consumer protections applicable in your place of residence.
